Burlington Man Busted For Crashing Truck, Having Pistol, Police Say

A Connecticut man who allegedly crashed his pickup truck and then walked home was also busted for having a pistol in the vehicle without a license.

The incident took place in Hartford County around 5:15 a.m., Sunday, Dec. 11 on Route 4 in Burlington.

According to Connecticut State Police, troopers responded to a report of a crash on Route 4 in the town of Burlington.

Responding troopers found damage and located a Ford pickup truck with damage off the roadway, positioned up against a tree, police said.

Police said while checking the interior of the truck, troopers found a handgun in plain view in the passenger compartment.

The handgun was secured and later processed as evidence. 

During the investigation, it was learned that the pickup was registered to George Lamoreaux, age 25, of Burlington. 

A short time later, troopers located Lamoreaux at his home, a quarter mile away from the scene of the collision, police said.

Lamoreaux was identified as the operator of the truck at the time of the collision and reported no injuries. He also acknowledged that he was aware of the handgun inside his vehicle, police added.

An investigation found he did not have a state pistol permit, police said.

Lamoureux at arrested and charged with:

  • Evading responsibility w/ property damage
  • Failure to drive right
  • Illegal possession of a weapon in a vehicle
  • Carrying a pistol without a permit

He was later released on a $5.000 cash/surety bond and is scheduled for arraignment on Thursday, Dec. 22.
